Wow, was für eine coole Oster-Runde durch den Golf von Triest! Es war zwar brrrr-kalt in der Nacht auf dem Boot, aber nach einem heißen Kaffee ging es los. Die Jolie Fleur war bereit für das Abenteuer, wir haben unser Gepäck verstaut, Wasser gebunkert und den Motor und das Navi gecheckt. Dann konnte es endlich losgehen!
Wir sind von unserer Marina Punta Gabbiani gemütlich in Richtung Norden gesegelt, begleitet von einem leichten Wind. Am frühen Nachmittag ließ der Wind jedoch nach und wir mussten die restlichen 10 Meilen nach Triest mit dem Motor fahren. In der Marina San Giusto haben wir dann einen Platz gefunden und sind zu Fuß in die Stadt gegangen.
Der nächste Tag war leider etwas schlechter, ohne Wind vorhergesagt. Aber wir haben das Beste daraus gemacht und Triest erkundet. Am Canale Grande haben wir uns einen Aperol gegönnt und die Sonne genossen. Abends waren wir in der Antica Sartoria zum Essen, einem tollen Restaurant mit Flair.
Am Sonntag war ordentlich Wind vorhergesagt, perfekt für unsere Fahrt nach Grado! Aber zuvor haben wir noch die Yacht-A umrundet, eines der größten privaten Segelschiffe der Welt. Der Rumpf glänzte in der Morgensonne und wir waren beeindruckt von der Größe des Schiffs.
Wir haben die Segel gesetzt und sind in Richtung Castello di Miramare gesegelt. Der Wind war wechselhaft und es gab starke Böen und Flaute. Aber es hat riesig Spaß gemacht! Am Nachmittag haben wir dann den Kurs auf Grado gesetzt, und bei teils über 20 Knoten Wind haben wir 7 Knoten Fahrt gemacht. Das war ein echter Adrenalinkick!
In Grado angekommen, haben wir in der Marina Marina Porto San Vito angelegt und uns auf einen tollen Spaziergang am Strand und in die Stadt gemacht. Es war Ostern, also mussten wir natürlich auch Ostereier finden!
Auf der letzten Etappe von Grado zurück in unsere Marina hat uns der Wind noch immer kräftig um die Ohren geblasen. Aber bei Sonnenschein, blauem Himmel und leuchtendem Wasser konnten wir das alles locker wegstecken. Wir haben noch einen Stop-Over eingelegt und vor der Küste geankert, bevor wir in die Lagune zurückgekehrt sind.
Was für eine coole Reise! Wir haben so viel gesehen und erlebt und sind glücklich und sicher in unserer Marina zurückgekehrt.

What a lovely Easter round through the Gulf of Trieste! Brrrr, it was chilly on the boat at night – the thermometer showed just 2 degrees. Beatrice is still sleeping, so we turned on the heater and made some coffee to wake up. After a small breakfast, we prepared the Jolie Fleur for our little journey: packing our luggage, stocking up on water, checking the engine, GPS, and radio. Ready to go!
We left our marina, Punta Gabbiani, and headed north towards Trieste with a light wind pushing us forward. However, the wind died down in the early afternoon, so we had to use the motor for the remaining 10 miles to Trieste. We found a spot in the San Giusto marina, which was just a few minutes‘ walk from the city center. Unfortunately, the weather forecast for the next day was not great – no wind predicted – so we decided to spend the day strolling through the city. We rewarded ourselves with an Aperol at the Canale Grande de Triest, enjoying the sun and observing the hustle and bustle around us. In the evening, we had a nice dinner at Antica Sartoria, a former tailoring shop that still has a bit of the flair from past times.
Sunday promised some good wind for our trip to Grado. But first, we sailed around the Yacht-A, one of the largest private sailing ships at 142.81 meters in length. The boat belongs to oligarch Andrei Melnitschenko and was seized as part of the Ukraine sanctions. It has been anchored near Trieste for about a year now. Seeing the yacht up close, it’s truly impressive – the size and the gleaming hull are awe-inspiring.
We set sail with the first reef and cruised towards Castello di Miramare and along the coast. The wind came from the northwest, blowing over the mountains and the city towards the sea. It was very changeable near the coast, with strong gusts and calms alternating. In the afternoon, the wind was supposed to ease up, so we set our course for Grado early. With winds gusting up to almost 30 knots, we made 7 knots of speed – the maximum our Jolie Fleur could manage. But what fun it was! And as for the wind easing up – not so much. When we entered Grado, gusts were still whipping around us.
We moored at the Porto San Vito marina in Grado – a nice little marina from where you can take a great walk on the beach and into town. But first, it was Easter, and there had to be Easter eggs! :-)
The wind still blew strongly on our last leg from Grado back to our marina. It was glorious – sunshine, blue skies, and sparkling water. We made a stop-over, anchored off the coast, before returning to our marina in the lagoon.
